Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed that he has directed the officials to take necessary steps to ensure that a 100-bed inpatient facility begins to serve the public soon in the district Wenlock Hospital.
Addressing a meeting about COVID-19 management at the office of the district deputy commissioner on Friday, June 26, Srinivas said, “Wenlock Hospital was converted into COVID hospital, therefore, other services had been suspended, nut moe the district administration has realized that this has been resulting in problems for the general public. Therefore, I have directed the officials to take necessary steps to ensure that a 100-bed inpatient facility begins to serve the public soon.”
Srinivas further informed that so far 370 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from the hospital, while there are 142 active cases and the death toll has reached to 10.

Meanwhile, Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh, informed that coronavirus patients can also directly get admitted into private hospitals and get treated but they have to bear the treatment expense on their own. S
MLAs Umanath Kotian and Dr. Y Bharath Shetty, additional deputy commissioner M J Roopa and district surveillance officer Dr. Jagadeesh also attended the meeting.
