‘100 not out campaign’: State Congress leaders protest against petrol, diesel price hikes

Bengaluru: With fuel prices touching unprecedented levels, Congress launched a massive five-day ‘100 Not Out’ campaign on Friday.

State Congress leaders staged a protest in front of an outlet near Shivananda Circle in the city near the chief minister, B S Yediyurappa’s official residence and the Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru on Friday.

Opposition leaders Siddaramaiah and DK Shivakumar led the protests. The leaders held  placards stating that “Petrol Rs 35, BJP tax Rs 65, Karnataka pays Rs 100.’’

They said that the price of fuel has been hiked by about Rs 30 over the past 12 months. He also pointed out that the government had again hiked power tariff, adding to the woes of the common man, already burdened by job losses and salary cuts.

The five-day-long ‘100 not-out campaign’ will be held from June 11 to 15 and protests will be held at 5,000 major petrol pumps in the state.

On June 11, protests will be held in all the district headquarters, at all the taluk headquarters on June 12, in hoblis on June 13, in all gram panchayats on June 14 and in all other major portions of the state on June 15.
