Though the passengers are sensitized about this issue, the number of passengers repeating the offence repeatedly is a sad issue. The fine amount increases every successive year and yet the corporation has not been able to prevent the leak in income. In all the five years of fine collection, last year has seen the highest amount collected.

Year Fine collected
2013-14 3,46,200
2014-15 4,33,760
2015-16 4,81,640
2016-17 4,83,190

KSRTC is sensitizing passengers to not to travel without procuring tickets. The bus ticket itself mentions that the passenger must travel with the ticket and also it is displayed within the bus that every single passenger must travel with possession of the ticket. Additionally, the LCD’s at the bus stations and the speaker systems also spread awareness about this issue. Yet, the number of people travelling without possessing the ticket is still increasing which is ironic.

Procuring ticket is passenger’s responsibility

Passengers cannot escape by saying the conductor did not give the ticket. This is so because, even though the conductor fails to give the ticket, it is the passenger’s responsibility to demand and procure the ticket says the law. Therefore, along with the conductor, the passenger too is subject for the punishment.
