30 persons, part of funeral cortege hurt after bee attack

Nagamangala: In a freak incident, a swarm of honey bees attacked a group of people, on their way to attend a funeral at Doddayagati in the taluk on Friday, November 30.

Nearly 30 persons were hospitalised after being stung by the bees.

The incident occurred when the people were performing the last rites of a man named Bettaiah. As the bees attacked them the people ran for protection leaving Bettaiah’s body behind. Finally, they lighted a fire to protect themselves from the bees. 

Of the 30 persons injured in the bee attack, 26 persons were admitted to Nagamangala government hospital and four others were admitted to Basaralu hospital.
