The victims were severely injured because of the crash of the two bikes. But the sitaution worsened when a fire broke out because of petroleum that was spilling from the two bikes. According to another version the pillion rider on one of the bikes was carrying a diesel can and which spilled out, resulting in a fire triggered by the spark.
K.R.Nagar inspector Prasanna said no one had seen the casualties laying immobile as the accident occurred at around 10.30 p.m. also, the place was deserted. In addition, it was at an isolated place and henceforth the situation of the victims went unnoticed. In any case, after some time a local villager saw the fire and informed the police who arrived at the spot just to discover the charred remains of three persons while two others were fighting for life. They were moved to the hospital for treatment but succumbed to injuries.
The casualties were recognized as Santosh (27) from Araguru and Puneeth, Sanjeev, Madan and Papanna – all underneath 20 years old – from Channamgere town. The K.R.Nagar police have enrolled a case and are researching.
