55% polling in Bengaluru's Jayanagara

Bengaluru: Around 55 percentage of voting was recorded on Monday in Bengaluru’s Jayanagar Assembly constituency where polling had been reversed amid the May 12 assembly election because of a competitor’s demise, an election official said.

“More than 55 percentage had been enrolled in all the 216 polling stations till 6 p.m. The polling rate is probably going to go up by a minute division as few of voters were still in lines after gates were closed at 6 p.m.,” Returning Officer Mamatha said.

The constituency has a total of 312,252 enlisted voters. 

“A total of 111,689 voters, including 56,865 men and 54,824 women, have caste their votes,” she said. 

Polling, which started at 7 a.m. begun on a lively note and progressed enlisting 10 percent voting till 9 a.m., 34 percent till 1 p.m., and after that 42 percent by 3 p.m.

Total of 19 candidates, including nine Independents were in the shred. Votes will be counted on Wednesday.
