7000 police personnel to keep NYE celebrations safe in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: An additional 7000 policemen and women will de deployed across India’s silicon city on new year’s eve to provide security to revellers.

Apart from the men in uniform, an army of drones and CCTV camera will be used to keep an eagle’s eye vigil on the usually crowded places in the city such as Brigade Road and M.G. Road.

Vehicular traffic will be diverted and no parking will be allowed on the city’s main streets from 8 p.m. on 31 December to 6 p.m. on 1 January.

The information was provided by the city’s police commissioner Bhaskar Rao in a release.

The statement further quoted that drunken driving will result in the filing of criminal cases against violators under section 279 of the IPC.

Eateries and bars will be allowed to stay open till 2 a.m. and metro services will be extended up to 2 a.m. by BMRCL.
