ABVP Members Taken into Police Custody Amid Protests for KSOU in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: As many as 100 student members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) have been taken into custody by the police in Bengaluru when they tried to enter Vidhana Soudha on Friday as part of their protests. The protests were organised in Freedom Park and Vidhana Soudha to urge Karnataka government not to shut Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) and take measures to get back UGC recognition immediately.

A student, Meghashri has been reportedly injured during police lathi charge is being treated at KC general hospital here. Some of the protesters were seen protesting in front of the CID office also urging Karnataka state Higher Education Minister Basavaraj Rayareddy to visit the protest spot to resolve all issues related to KSOU.

Meanwhile, former minister, BJP leader SA Ramdas who has also urged to end KSOU issue expressed his confidence that the state government won’t shut the university instead it could work to end issues related to the university.
