He was addressing after inaugurating the new Cardiac-MRI department in Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research in the city. “An Act was framed to consider the assault on doctors as a non-bailable offense. Nonetheless, it has come to light that this Act, which was implemented in 2007, isn’t effective. This will be made more stringent and implemented,” he said.
“The present Act was framed 12-years-prior when I was the Chief Minister considering the episodes wherein the relatives of the deceased patient assaulted the doctors even after the deceased individual was given proper medicinal care,” he included.
“People of rural regions also should get good medical care. People who have become doctors on the free medicinal seat of the government should compulsorily serve in rural regions. Essential action will be taken to implement this” he said.
