Following Atrangi Re and Raksha Bandhan, Akshay Kumar is working on his third project with Aanand L Rai, Gorkha, which Rai will also produce. The first poster of the film, based on the life of Major General Ian Cardozo, a legendary officer of the Indian Army’s Gorkha regiment (5th Gorkha Rifles) was released on Friday.

A fierce-looking Akshay Kumar is seen wielding a curved knife, known as a Khukri in the poster. A former Gorkha officer, however, pointed out a fundamental error in the poster on Saturday, October 16.

Major Manik M Jolly pointed out on Twitter that a traditional Khukri does not look like the one featured in the image. After that, Akshay responded by adding that they will take extreme precautions while filming the movie.

He wrote, “Dear @akshaykumar ji, as an ex Gorkha officer, my thanks to you for making this movie. However, details matter. Kindly get the Khukri right. The sharp edge is on the other side. It is not a sword. Khukri strikes from inner side of blade. Ref pic of Khukri att. Thanks.”

Responding to the tweet, Akshay Kumar wrote, “Dear Maj Jolly, thank you so much for pointing this out. We’ll take utmost care while filming. I’m very proud and honoured to be making Gorkha. Any suggestions to get it closest to reality would be most appreciated,” with folded hands emoji.

An error in the poster for Sam Bahaur, the biography of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw starring Vicky Kaushal, was also pointed out by the ex-Gorkha officer. Someone who’s been dressed wrongly as evident from Colored images. He’s a Gurkha Officer. He wore Black rank badges, not golden. This is the least that’s expected from movie makers. Get the uniform right of such legendary soldiers,” he had written.
