Algeria’s Defense Ministry said that those killed included 247 passengers and 10 crew members. The reason for the crash is yet to be investigated.
According to the ministry the greater part of the victims were soldiers and their family and that the dead bodies were shifted to the Algerian armed force’s central hospital in the town of Ain Naadja for identification.
Nearby media announced that the plane crtashed soon after taking off. Emergency services joined on the zone near to the Boufarik army camp base after the crash. Film from the scene demonstrated thick dark smoke falling off the field, and additionally ambulances and Red Cross vehicles reached the site.
