April 16-19: Prohibitory orders invoked in Kodagu; no fair, markets

Madikeri: As per the order passed by the Deputy Commissioner of the district Annies Kanmani Joy, prohibitory orders will come into effect from 6 pm in the evening on April 16th to 6 pm in the evening of April 19th.  The order has been passed to prevent any untoward incident and to ensure open, easy, safe and universal conduction of voting during the Lok Sabha election in the district.

During this period, other than the door to door visit by the candidate of a political party and its workers requesting votes for their party, no political meeting, exploding of crackers, march or rally and conduction of any other programme is banned. Display of election topic through photography, TV or any other equipment is also prohibited.

Voters are not to be influenced by political parties within 100meters of the polling station, also all political promotion within the distance limit is prohibited. On the day of voting April 18th, all fairs and markets are banned throughout the district.

This order is not applicable for those appointed on government duty, bank, ATM, security staff as well as the officials appointed for security purposes at the booths and staffs using weapons, informed the DC.

Restricted area

Possession of weapons or movement equipped with weapons, grouping or movement of more than 5 people together and other activities are banned.

200 meters of area surrounding the polling booth is restricted area and parking of private vehicles, use of loudspeakers and other activities within the restricted area is strictly banned.
