The government Wenlock hospital, Lady Goshen hospital and a few private hospitals in the city were facing an acute shortage in blood supply in the month of April and May. Chiefly, the stock for A+ and AB+ blood group was running dry.
The lack in blood supply was causing much problem to patients suffering from Thalassemia and other diseases. In order to prevent the lack of blood reserves, a blood donation camp was organized at Infosys campus under the leadership of KMC hospital and the blood bank of Wenlock hospital and more than 220 units of blood was collected. Currently the lack of blood supply has been reduced and blood belonging to A+, AB+ blood group has been collected. But, colleges and institutions have been requested to henceforth conduct blood donation camps more frequently, informed Dr Sharath Kumar, Head of the blood bank
