Attendance should not be made mandatory; DC Dr Rajendra K V on college re-opening

Mangaluru: Physical presence of students in classes should not be made compulsory and they should be allowed to attend classes only if they have tested negative for Covid-19,” said Dakshina Kannada district deputy commissioner Dr Rajendra K V said, DC was addressing a meeting of degree college principals, sub-divisional officer, tahsildars and health officers held in the city on Wednesday, Nov 25. Speaking regarding the re-opening of   colleges, he said, “ The concerned must mandatorily follow the Covid-19 guidelines issued by the government and students must get themselves RT-PCR test three days in advance and produce negative reports” Dr Ramachandra Bairy, District health officer said, “ 19,402 persons including college lecturers, office staff and students have been tested for COVID-19. Out of them, 45 have tested positive” Bairy also advised the principals to get in touch with the medical officers of the nearby health centre and arrange for the Covid-19 tests for their students.
