The Yadgir district administration on Friday suspended a doctor for allegedly refusing to perform a C-Section surgery on a woman who had gone into labor until the family paid Rs 10,000 bribe to her.
The gynecologist identified as Dr. Pallavi Poojari performed the surgery only after the money was given to her.
The incident took place on Thursday when Sangeetha, a local homemaker, had come for delivery to the district hospital. Dr. Pallavi had allegedly asked for a Rs 10,000 bribe to conduct cesarean surgery on her. The family of Sujatha, who did not have money, left to arrange the money from relatives and friends. However, as a result of the delay in attending to the woman, the baby died in the mother’s womb.
