Badami: Over 2 lakh years old stone tools factory discovered

Bagalkote: A team of archaeologist from the Archaeological Survey of India have discovered a stone tools manufacturing unit at Taminaal village near Badami that is more than 2.5 lakh years old.

The team made the discovery near the Malaprabha river on a hillock called the Ranganathabetta which is located between Taminaal village and Katharaki village.

Chief of the archaeologist’s team Ramesh Mulimani stated that many stone tools have been found at Kyada, Katharaki and other villages near Badami during geological surveys in the 19th century. This discovery pins the place where these stone tools-producing industry existed.

The team has now decided to write to the district authorities for permission to carry out extensive excavations and explorations of nearby areas.
