Ban on destructive fishing methods

Udupi/Mangaluru: In the backdrop of the term ending on the ban on fishing during the rainy season, a total ban has been imposed on bull trawling and light assisted fishing throughout the coast of the state. There is also a ban on fishing cuttle fish through non-traditional methods by the use of wrong size nets, rotten items and other sea polluting things and chemicals.

Mechanized fishing boats have the permission to use an engine with a limit of 350hp. All fishing boats have been ordered to be compulsorily painted in a single colour. All trawlers should mandatory use square mesh cord net with a measurement of 35 mm.
