Bantwal: Two arrested for transporting narcotics

Bantwal: Town police arrested two persons who were allegedly illegally transporting drugs in an auto rickshaw on Thursday.

The accused have been identified as Irshad (23), a resident of Barekadu in Bantwal, and Dixit (19), a resident of Udyavaraguthu in Manjeshwar

They were taken into custody along with the rickshaw at Goodinabali on Thursday, police said adding that drugs worth Rs. 75,000 were found stashed in the autorickshaw.

The crime came to light when Bantwal Town police station SI Avinash Gowda and staff were checking the vehicles at a checkpoint at Goodinabali. Drugs were found when the auto-rickshaw was searched.

A case has been registered at Bantwala Town Police Station.
