Before 2099, 12 Indian cities to be under 3 ft of sea, says IPCC report

New Delhi: The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) recent states that as many as 12 Indian coastal cities could be under 3 feet of water by the end of the century.

IPCC presents a report every 5-7 years on the state of sea levels, snow and ice cover and greenhouse gas emissions.

They made the report based on new findings as well as analysis and computer simulations.

The reports states that sea levels particularly in Asia have been rising at a faster rate than the global average.

It also mentions that sea levels could sees drastic changes at intervals of 6-9 years after 2050.

The report also added that climate change is bringing many different changes in varied regions that includes changes to wet and dryness, to winds, snow and ice, coastal areas and oceans.

The 12 Indian cities mentioned in the report the could be submerged under at least 3 feet of sea are Kandla, Okha, Bhaunagar, Mumbai, Marmugao, Mangaluru, Kochi, Paradip, Khidipur, Visakhapatnam, Chennai and Tuticorin.
