"Before coming to Chamarajanagar, Modi should fulfill promises to Dalits"- C Shivanna

Mysuru: Chornalli Shivanna, Convenor, Dalit Sangarsha Samithi of Mysuru said “Before coming to Chamarajanagar to campaign Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take action against Union Minister Ananth Kumar Hegde, who talked about changing the constitution, and address the issues of the Dalit including monstrosities on the group, providing reservation in private sectors, filling up of backlog vacancies and the dilution of the SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, else we will gherao him during his visit to Chamarajanagar”

Tending to the media at the Press Club here on April 27, Shivanna stated, “Amid Amit Shah’s visit to Mysuru, he held a meeting with the Dalit leaders. The different issues looked by the Dalit comminuty were conveyed to his notice and he had guaranteed us that they would be settled at the earliest. But, nothing has been done as such so far. As far back as the BJP came to control four years before, the PM has neglected to do justice to the Dalit community and he is mum about incidents identified with Dalits. This demonstrates they are against the Dalits, which is the reason we have chosen not to vote in favor of the BJP in the upcoming elections.” 

He went ahead to include that they would give first preference to the Swaraj India Party (SIP) and would vote in favor of their candidates. Following the SIP, he said that they would favor Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) and after that the Congress party. “We will support those candidates who can keep the BJP from winning in the upcoming elections”, he added.
