Belthangadi: Bus swerves into forest area after brake failure; many injured

Several people sustained serious injuries after the mini bus in which they were travelling swerved off the road into the forest area allegedly due to a brake failure.

The mini bus was headed from Bellary to Sabarimala when it met with the mishap at Ullalti Katte in Mundaje here on December 23.

Reportedly, there was a ditch and an electric pole at the spot where the mishap occured. However the driver’s presence of mind helped avert what could have been a major accident.

Belthangadi traffic police personnel visited the spot. Six ambulances were used to shift the injured passengers to different hospitals in the taluk.
