BMTC informed that bus fares, daily and monthly pass rates of Vajra  services shall be reduced by 20% in order to attract more passengers.

In the wake of Corona virus, people refrained from traveling in AC buses fearing the higher risk of the virus. Although the buses are back to operating on roads.

Only 10% of the 850-plus fleet was operating after the lockdown came to ease.

With the number of cases active cases going down, officials expect a rise in ridership.

Apart from reducing the fares, BMTC plans on limiting the number of routes where AC buses operate.

Even though the AC buses form about 10% of 6500 buses, they are the major revenue generators for BMTC.

It is important to notice that earlier this month BMTC and Karnataka State Board Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) went on a strike demanding to be recognized as state government employees.
