In nearly two months, the site saw at least 1,708 funerals. As a large number of bodies were brought to the site daily during the Covid surge, a token system was introduced.

However, on May 7 only 84 people were cremated here. An official said that only one body was brought for cremation on Wednesday.

During the second wave, the cremation sites were running out of space and parking lots, parks, parking grounds, etc. were used for cremating the COVID victims amid rise in fatalities and cases.
