Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Warns Activists after Pro Kannada Protests

Bengaluru: Bengaluru city police commissioner Praveen Sood has warned Kannada outfits not to violate law to oppose use of Hindu language and support the regional language Kannada in the state capital. His statement came in the wake of police cases booked against 36 members Kannada Rakshana Vedike (KRV) who allegedly defaced Hindi sign boards at some metro stations in Bengaluru.

Kannada activists reportedly defaced Hindi sign boards and threatened some shop, commercial establishment owners to put sign boards, banners and others in Kannada language, last week. The activists reportedly defaced Hindi sign boards in other parts of the city also.

Speaking on the issue the commissioner said, the activists have right to promote their language peacefully, however the persons who damage private, public property in the name of protests for their mother tongue would be punished as per the law.
