Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court has ordered to release the seized vehicles due to lockdown violation on Thursday, April 30.
Bengaluru Police commissioner Bhaskar Rao took to twitter to update this and he wrote that the High Court fast-tracked the process of releasing the vehicles during the vehicles and the seizures were done under National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) act .
"If this process was not simplified then over 48,510 people would have had to come to the same court compromising social distancing and would have caused inconvenience," he wrote.
While owners of four-wheelers will have to pay a tentative fine of ₹1,000, the two- and three-wheeler owners will have to pay ₹500. Apart from this, executing a bond as required under Section 102(3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The police will also have to impose a condition that the vehicle owners will not violate the conditions of the lockdown again.
Describing the fines, Rao wrote, " Fines are A.2&3 wheelers - Rs 500; B.4 wheelers - Rs 1000. Bond not to repeat. Please pay Chalan at Bank n take ur vehicle."
Earlier, Bhaskar Rao had written, "It’s decided to return the Corona seized vehicles from 1/5/20 onwards. Those seized first will be returned first. The documents will be verified and the vehicle returned. This has the approval of Hon CM and HM. We are doing the paperwork to ease the process."
