Luther Nathan (53), a Whitefield resident, was taken into custody after an incident where he duped a person by masquerading as a policeman and promising to sell police-seized vehicles at significantly reduced prices. A bike and Rs 50,000 in cash were seized from the accused, police said.

According to the complaint, Luther Nathan introduced himself as a cop and offered to sell bikes seized by police for as low as Rs 25,000. The complainant trusted the offer and paid Rs 50,000 for two Bullet bikes. However, the accused went missing after receiving the money.

Subsequently, the wary victim filed a complaint at the Begur police station, leading subsequent arrest of Luther Nathan, police said.

Investigations revealed that the accused previously worked as a security guard in private companies and served in the Home Guard for two and a half years. He has a history of involvement in similar frauds, police added.
