Anjum Parwez, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Managing Director, said that the officials are waiting for safety inspections to be conducted on the seven-km line between Mysuru Road and Kengeri.

BMRCL has submitted the relevant documents to the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) and the officials have planned to open the line by the first week of August. The line is likely to benefit 70,000 passengers.

Also,  in order to generate revenue, space available at metro stations will be rented out for eateries and other commercial activities.

Operations were initially scheduled to begin in 2020 but the work at Metro stations was affected by the shortage of workers and supply of material due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown.
