Bengaluru rains: Dy CM to inspect badly-hit areas in city

Bengaluru: Deputy Chief Minister C N Ashwathnarayan on Wednesday said that he will be inspecting areas hit badly after heavy rains accompanied by strong winds lashed parts of Bengaluru, including the spot at Gurudutta Layout near Hosakerehalli in the city where a portion of the stormwater drain (SWD) wall collapsed.

Meanwhile, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunatha Prasad said “Repairing works of the SWD wall is already underway at Gurudutta Layout. Our officials are attending and resolving other complaints reported from many areas in the city as well.”

Further, he added in a tweet, “BBMP officials are on the ground addressing complaints of tree fall in Basavanagudi & Banashankari. Gangmen have been working round-the-clock from last night & again from this morning addressing rain-related complaints.”

According to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNMDC), Kengeri, Rajarajeshwarinagar, Lakkasandra, VV Puram, and Gottigere areas received over 100 mm of rain till Wednesday morning. At the same time, Vidyapeetha, Nagarbhavi, Bapujinagar, Begur, and surrounding areas received over 90 mm of rainfall.
