Bengaluru: RPF women’s team nabs passenger with banned drugs worth Rs 3.2 Cr

Bengaluru: In a major drug haul,  an all-women team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) on Friday seized 640 grams of the recreational drug Crystal Methamphetamine, worth nearly Rs 3.2 crore, from a train passenger.

Methamphetamine is a potent central nervous system stimulant that is mainly used as a recreational drug.

The accused hailed from Odisha and was travelling in the general coach of the Prashanti Express (KSR Bengaluru City to Bhubaneswar).

The 6-member team of RPF Shakthi headed by Tanuja NP, ASI, noticed a passenger who was behaving suspiciously. When the train reached Yelahanka, he avoided them and moved in the opposite direction.

When the train stopped at Hindupur, the accused tried to flee. But the team surrounded him from all directions. He later confessed to carrying the banned drugs.

The accused was handed over to the Government Railway Police and has been booked under Section 20 (b) of the Narcotics Drug and Psychotropic Substances Act.
