Better to reconstitute Cabinet rather than expand it: Malikayya Guttedar

Kalburgi: Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa should restructure rather than expand the Cabinet said former minister and State BJP vice president Malikayya Venkayya Guttedar.

Speaking at a news conference, he said that if the whole Cabinet is reappointed then everyone will have the opportunity to be ministers. He added that existing ministers should cooperate in appointing new ministers.

“The sacrifice and effort of many people lie behind the formation of the government. Thus, those who joined the party worked for the party should be identified and given proper recognition. Thus the Cabinet needs to be restructured rather than expanded,” he said.

“To sharpen the district administration in the hard times brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, it would also be better if Cabinet ministers are released from the additional assignment of being district in-charge ministers especially those in charge of two districts,” Guttedar added.

“I have no desire to become a minister and, hence, I won’t beg for it. If I am given a ministerial berth I will gladly accept it. BJP is a party that recognises hardworking party workers,” Guttedar said.

“I have recently come back from the threshold of death after contracting COVID-19. Those 4-5 days were a rebirth for me. I am feeling well now,” he said while sharing his experience of recovering from the virus.
