Bill to Regulate Private Hospitals in Karnataka Remains Pending after Objection from BJP

Bengaluru: Karnataka legislative assembly speaker  sent proposed bill to regulate doctors, private hospitals and clinics in the state to joint committee of the two houses of the legislature on Tuesday. The decision came after BJP led opposition and physicians objected the bill and pressurized the government not to implement it as an act.

According to proposed bill, the state government can fix charges of various medical treatments, it facilitates the patient or his close relatives to register complaint against the hospitals, doctors if they fail to provide better treatment, care for them. Following objection from the doctors, opposition party members, state legislative assembly speaker KB Koliwad decided to send the bill to the joint committee of the two houses for necessary action. A pro people bill remained in papers as BJP pressurized the ruling congress party, sources said.
