BJP gears up for campaign against Karnataka government

Bengaluru: The BJP is gearing up to confront the shortcomings of the state government, focusing on issues related to drought and the Cauvery River.

A meeting of party officials, led by prominent figures like Sadananda Gowda, Basavaraj Bommai, and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, resulted in key decisions.

Former Chief Ministers B.S. Yediyurappa and D.V. Sadananda Gowda, among others, deliberated and decided to launch a campaign in four phases across the state.

The inaugural event, scheduled for September 18, will see Yediyurappa commence the campaign with a puja ceremony at the Kurudumalai temple in Kolar.

Additionally, the meeting featured an acknowledgment of the efforts of scientists involved in the Chandrayaan-3 and Aditya L1 missions.

Another significant decision made during the meeting was the commitment to challenge the state government until Minister Sudhakar, who is facing allegations of SC and ST atrocities, is compelled to resign from the cabinet. This move aims to expose the dual policy stance of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and statewide protests are planned in response.

Addressing presspersons, D.V. Sadananda Gowda, expressed his dismay at the current government’s performance, stating that, in his 30 years in politics, he has never witnessed such an anti-people administration, not just in Karnataka but anywhere in the country. He predicted that internal conflicts within the administration would soon lead to its downfall.

Meanwhile, Former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai emphasized the need to unite against the incumbent government, suggesting that an alliance with JDS was inevitable. He acknowledged the existing expectation for opposition parties to unite and asserted that discussions on the alliance’s merits and drawbacks would follow.

The decision, he mentioned, would be collectively reached by leaders from both parties. Basavaraj Bommai also highlighted the unity seen among opposition leaders nationwide.

Former CM B.S. Yediyurappa announced his trip to Delhi for a Parliamentary Board meeting, where clarity on a potential BJP-JDS alliance would be sought.

He clarified that the alliance matter would be entrusted to Prime Minister Modi and Amit Shah. The meeting was convened in preparation for forthcoming elections in states like Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
