BJP-JDS alliance's 'Mysuru Chalo Padayatra' to cover 130 km in 7 days

Bengaluru: The BJP-JDS alliance is set to launch a padayatra between Bengaluru and Mysuru to raise corruption issues in the state government. The march, set to start on August 3, aims to highlight four key charges against the administration.

BJP sources have confirmed that the padayatra will be conducted by two teams daily, from August 3 to August 10, averaging eight hours of walking each day. The march will commence at 8 am and continue until 2 pm. Additionally, discussions are ongoing about another team walking from 4 to 6 in the evening. Seven teams have been formed, each with distinct responsibilities.

Coordination Meetings and Responsibilities

A joint coordination meeting was held on Sunday, outlining the march. Another meeting was conducted by the BJP at Palace Grounds on Monday, where specific duties were assigned to ensure the success of the event, sources said.

BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra announced at a press conference that the padayatra would begin at 8.30 am on August 3 after a puja at Kempamma Devi and Panchmukhi Ganapati temples near Kengeri. Leaders including former CM B.S. Yediyurappa, Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, and H.D. Kumaraswamy will lead the march.

Route and Itinerary

The padayatra will cover a total of 130 km over seven days, with a daily average of 18-20 km. The route includes:

Day 1: Kengeri to Bidadi
Day 2: Bidadi to Ramanagara
Day 3: Ramanagara to Channapatna
Day 4: Channapatna to Maddur
Day 5: Maddur to Mandya
Day 6: Mandya to Srirangapatna
Day 7: Srirangapatna to Maharaja College, Mysore

The organizing teams aim to bring 200-500 participants from each Assembly Constituency. The trekkers will receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily. Arrangements include a vehicle with a loudspeaker, shelter in case of rain, and medical facilities.
