Expressing concern over the incidents of vandalism, Surya wrote a letter to the CM said that this act of arson must be dealt with strictly inorder to ensure that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
“I am of the firm opinion that this must be dealt with sternly and an example be made out of the perpetrators of violence, which will ensure that such incidents will not be repeated in future,” he wrote.
In this regard, Surya urged Yediyurappa to take a cue from Yogi Adityanath led Uttar Pradesh government and attach properties of rioters involved in acts of arson.

“Bengaluru is known for its peace and harmonious society. We must protect this strength of our city at all costs,” Surya tweeted.
On Tuesday night, a large number of people gathered near Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivasa Murthy’s residence and vandalized it and damaged the vehicles parked there. The mob then targeted the police station and damaged vehicles believing that the police had kept the accused detained there. The police teams that tried to contain the violence also bore the brunt of the mob as their vehicles were damaged, eye-witnesses said.
Meanwhile, Section 144 CrPC has been imposed in Bengaluru city and curfew in DJ Halli and KG Halli police station limits.
