State BJP president urged the government to waive farmers loan obtained from nationalised banks in Karnataka and release drought relief funds to support farmers distressed following severe water shortage.
The decision to organise massive protests against the government came in the wake of next state assembly elections scheduled next year. The party has planned protest programmes including torch processions, demonstrations, bike rallies and others, BSY added.
The decision to organise massive protests was taken in a meeting with BJP national president Amit Shah who is on a three day visit to the state. In a meeting held on Sunday in the state capital, Amit Shah reportedly asked BSY to organise protests against alleged corrupt scandals of congress leaders including, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Ramesh Jarkiholi, DK Shivakumar and others as part of his political strategy for the next state assembly elections scheduled next year.
