Ayanur Manjunath of BJP won the election by an edge of 9,498 votes against Mr. Dinesh. While 22,600 votes were surveyed for Mr. Manjunath, Mr. Dinesh managed to get 13,102 votes.
At a public interview here on Friday, Mr. Dinesh charged that separated from dispersion of money, Mr. Manjunath had likewise offered gifts to voters and hosted dinner parties for them in a surreptitious way. He claimed that it was Mr. Manjunath who had gone into secret pact with JD(S) candidate for Teachers’ constituency bringing about the defeat of Ganesh Karnik, the BJP nominee. As BJP in its manifesto had guaranteed to tackle issues faced by guest lecturers serving in government first grade colleges, Mr. Manjunath in Legislative Council should draw the consideration of State Government on the requests from guest lecturers for regularization of service and improvement of remneration, he said.
