The flight which took off from Frankfurt at 1.05 pm on Tuesday was expected to land in Bengaluru at 1.25 am on Wednesday. However, following a medical emergency, the plane made a landing in Istanbul at around 2 pm.

Passengers onboard the flight complained that there was no official communication from the airline staff for over 30 hours and they were not informed about the revised timings of the flight.

Grammy winner – Ricky Kej, who was onboard the flight in a tweet said: “24 hours now, stranded at Istanbul airport. Our airline @lufthansa has zero staff here, still no hotel rooms, and absolutely no information as to when we will take off. I reiterate, I believe @lufthansa is treating us this shabbily, only because it is the Indian sector.”

The airlines in a statement confirmed the diversion and clarified that after the emergency they had to replace the oxygen cylinders and it took more time than expected.
