Based on the complaint filed by Shilly Kurian, Bank Manager at IDBI, Dollars Colony, North CEN Crime police registered a case against the unknown culprits.

Reportedly the culprits managed to withdraw Rs.7,20,000 in two transactions when the actual account holder had only Rs.19 in his account. The account holder claimed that he had lost his debit card on December 6 and had gotten it blocked by informing the bank. Initial inquiry revealed that money was credited from two ATMs at Banaswadi and Dollars Colony.

The police officer, in-charge of the case said that they came to know about someone withdrawing money from ATMs, even though there was insufficient balance in the account. The withdrawal limit of the card is only Rs.20,000.

He further added,” We sought more details about the case from the bank. We want to know about the possibilities of the technical error, which may have helped the card holder withdraw money when there was no money in the account.” He also said that the police has approached cybercrime experts seeking help.
