The e-buses are procured to act as feeder services for Namma Metro, in a bid to link areas away from metro stations to them.

The Corporation had ordered buses before the second wave of Covid-19 after it picked NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd. as the operator to run 90 non-AC e-buses under the Bengaluru Smart City Project.

Speaking with this regard an official said, “We are expecting to get four to five prototypes of the buses by at least the third week of August. Each bus will be nine meters long and will have 31 seats. Once approved, the operator will provide us with the rest in batches.”
