Puttur: The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has caught tahsildar Dr Pradeep Kumar red-handed while receiving bribe from a caterer for clearing pending bills on Thursday, June 20. The amount involved was Rs 125,000.
The government owed money to Pai Caterers for the food supplied to officials during recent Lok Sabha elections. However, the tahsildar demanded bribe and hence the victim filed a complaint with ACB.
Based on the complaint, the ACB personnel laid a trap for tahsildar Dr Pradeep Kumar who had demanded the bribe of Rs 1,25,000 to clear the bills worth Rs 9,37,000 and caught the accused red-handed. Along with arresting the accused, ACB sleuths also seized the bribe money.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of ACB SP Uma Prashanth, led by DySP Manjunath Kowri, Inspectors Yogish Kumar, Mohan Kottary, and staffs Hariprasad, Umesh, Radhakrishna K, Radhakrishan D, Vaishali, Prashanth, Ganesh, Rithesh were part of the operation.
