Amid the speech on motion of thanks to governor’s address in the assembly on Monday July 9, Yeddyurappa alluded to specific comments made by Kumaraswamy. “In 2006, you manipulated the then chief minister, N Dharam Singh, and formed a coalition government in relationship with the BJP. Dharam Singh, who felt betrayed, died because of the stresses caused by this betrayal,” he said.

Kumaraswamy strongly opposed this statement. This offered ascend to a war of words between the Congress – JD(S) coalition and the BJP.

Interceding after at some point, speaker of the assembly, Ramesh Kumar, said that Yeddyurappa’s claim would have some belief if Dharam had died within a couple of months since he was unseated from power. He indicated out Yeddyurappa that Dharam had died 11 years after the above episode and hence the allegation was not advocated.

Kumaraswamy, who said thanks to the speaker, needed to know from Yeddyurappa regardless of whether he too was blameworthy of contribution with this example of betrayal.

Kumaraswamy joked that he had not moved toward Yeddyurappa looking for power, and charged thelatter of allowing his tongue to wag since it doesn’t have any bone. As the two leaders exchanged charges, speaker, Ramesh Kumar, asked both the leaders not to get charge up. Yeddyurappa, proceeding with his charge, said that both Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy had arrived at West End Hotel here and put a few conditions for forming an alliance together with BJP.
