“We have to get a lot of permissions before opening up, so let’s wait and see. If we get permission, places of worship can open by June 1,” Yediyurappa told reporters on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Yediyurappa held a review meeting of the Muzrai department and it was decided that temples, mosques, churches and other religious places in the state will be reopened for devotees from June 1, subject to Centre’s guidelines.

Muzrai Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that social distancing norms use of face masks would be followed at temples and other places of worship. If reopened only daily rituals can be offered at temples while fairs and fests will remain restricted

A cabinet meet is expected on Thursday where the opening of religious places, including temples, mosques and churches is likely to be discussed.
