ByteDance has agreed to sell TikTok’s US operations to avoid a ban in the country. Microsoft would be in charge of protecting US user data

Earlier, President Trump said that he would ban TikTok outright and rejected talk of allowing a sell-off. He suggested he would use an executive order or emergency economic powers to block the company. Tiktok has more than 100 million users in the US.

TikTok U.S. general manager Vanessa Pappas said, “We are here for the long run. Continue to share your voice here and let’s stand for TikTok”

However, Microsoft did not respond to a request for comment.
