Cancer speciality hospital at cost of Rs 150 cr to come up soon in Mysuru: Min Dr. Sudhakar

Mysuru: State Health Minister Dr. Sudhakar has said that Rs. 130 crores will be sanctioned towards construction of cancer speciality hospital in the district.

Addressing the media on Thursday, October 27 he said, “An approval for construction for a cancer speciality hospital in Mysuru district will be given in next cabinet meeting. In the first phase an amount of Rs. 50 crores will be sanctioned. Towards renovation and development of K.R. Hospital, an amount of Rs. 89 crores has been sanctioned and a tender with this regard is also in its final stage of approval”.

“In the month of November, ‘Namma Clinic’ will be inaugurated. We are aiming at distributing around five crores Ayushman cards by December”, he added.

About vacancy and recruitment in the state health department and super speciality hospitals, he said, “Soon the vacancies in the state health department will be filled. Already the recruitment process in super speciality hospitals is on. Some of the vacancies will be filled in the direct recruitment process”.

Speaking about the precautionary measures taken regarding the new Omicron variant, Sudhakar said, “In America, the cases are increasing. In our country, one case is detected in Maharashtra. All the precautionary measures are in place and an intimation regarding this has been sent to all the deputy commissioners of the districts. There is no need to panic”.

Meanwhile, he suggested the public take the third dose of vaccine/booster shot at the earliest as a precautionary measure. The decision on mandatory wearing of masks is not yet decided, he said.
