Car transporting cattle illegally topples: 6 cows dead; thieves escape

Belthangady: A car which was illegally transporting cattle from Charmadi towards Ujire toppled after the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle near Mundaje during the early hours of June 7^th. The accident has left 6 cows dead.

The Ford Ecosport car with Bengaluru registration KA05MQ4824 was illegally transporting 6 cows when the driver of the vehicle lost control of the vehicle which toppled into a drain near Mundaje Bridge. Soon after the incident, the cow thieves, abandoned the vehicle and made good their escape.

It is suspected that in order to transport the cows, the thieves had given sedatives laced bread to the bovines to make them go unconscious. A packet of bread has also been found inside the car. A case in this connection has been registered at Dharmasthala Police station.
