Chikkamagaluru Police Cracks Interstate Online Cheaters Network; Arrest 21 Accused in Ranchi

Chikkamagaluru: Chikkamagaluru police have busted an interstate network of online cheaters and have arrested 21 accused in Ranchi of Jharkhand in connection with an online fraud case reported in Chikkamagaluru. The interstate online cheaters group has reportedly cheated number of innocents around the country and arrested 21 accused are being brought to Chikkamagaluru from Ranchi with elaborate security arrangements, police sources said.

Youths from Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Bihar, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh constitute the gang of online cheaters. However, main accused in the case, Kara Singh, Bihar based Bihar Sharif and Kalburgi resident Surapuri Kotresh reportedly absconding and police investigation in progress to nab the main accused.  As many as 65 cell phones, 12 ATM cards, a laptop, a printer, Rs 30, 000 cash and other records have been seized from the accused.

The police arrested the gang members’ inconnection with the complaint from Chikkamagaluru based woman who reportedly lost Rs 1.42 lakh through online transaction on the assurance of free gifts. The police team moved to Ranchi on July 18 and arrested the accused from a house in the city with the support of local police. The arrested gang members are being brought to Chikkamagaluru in train with elaborate security arrangements, sources said.
