Close shave for DK Shivkumar, alert pilot prevents a mishap

Mandya: A major mishap was prevented when an alert pilot of a helicopter carrying minister DK Shivkumar terminated the landing of the helicopter after noticing a flock of people rushing towards the landing area in Nelamangala town on Friday.

A major accident was averted and thanks to the pilot who was very alert who was quick in lifting off the helicopter when party workers rushed to the helipad to greet the minister, said the police officer present there.

A senior police officer said that the police lathi-charged the workers and cleared the area. The helicopter was then landed safely after the area was cleared. If the pilot had not aborted the landing, a major accident would have occurred.
