CM Bommai meets students in Bengaluru after reopening of schools

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, State’s Higher Education Minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan and Primary and Secondary Education Minister B C Nagesh on August 23 interacted with students at Malleswaram of Bengaluru.

Chief Minister visited Government PU College and Nirmala Rani School at Malleswaram to interact with students. Bommai sought the views of students on the reopening of schools and resumption of classes.

“Children showed up enthusiastically at schools. They are happy that they can mingle with their classmates now,” he said.

The government had decided to open schools in districts where the positivity rate is below 2%.

“It is the responsibility of the government to provide education to students while keeping their safety in mind. We have taken all measures necessary to ensure their safety, Network issues can be avoided and a true bonding between the students and teachers will happen,” CM stated

He further said, “Schools should conduct health check-up along with following Covid norms. Supplements must be provided if malnutrition is found.” Bommai also instructed the students to follow Covid protocol.

Bommai said that schools in border districts will be opened in a phased manner when the Covid positivity rate is less than 2%. Also, the decision regarding the opening of primary schools will be taken in consultation with the expert committee.

Schools in the state have reopened for classes 9-12 and PUC I and II year from today. The educational institutions in Karnataka were closed due to COVID-induced lockdown.
