Bengaluru: Ahead of Karnataka Assembly polls, Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai has criticized the Congress party for its lack of suitable candidates for 60 constituencies in the upcoming elections.

Addressing presspersons Bommai claimed that the Congress has no suitable candidates for 60 constituencies in the state, so KPCC chief DK Shivakumar has contacted many BJP MLAs and asked them to join his party.

He further added that the party has no clear policy or plan for reservation or development.

“The Congress party will lose more badly than last time. They have no candidate, no base, no clear policy. They are under the illusion that they can win the election by just talking. That is not possible,” he said.

When questioned about the high competition for tickets in the BJP Bommai said that the selection is being done in a very systematic and democratic way.

“After sitting for a few days and having a long discussion, 3-4 names per constituency have been sent to the high command. The final list will be released as soon as it is discussed in the Delhi meeting,” he added.

Responding to the confusion within the JDS party, Bommai stated that it was an internal issue and that he would not like to discuss about it.

In response to a statement made by Mahesh Kumatalli, who claimed that he had tried to put the defeat on his head, Bommai said he has spoken to him.

“He is the senior leader of the party. He was the DCM. I know that they are aware of their responsibility,” he said.

The BJP currently holds power in the state, and it remains to be seen whether they will be able to retain it in the upcoming election.
