Bengaluru: Opposition leader Siddaramaiah has said that the State’s BJP government, the hospital’s physicians and officials and the district administration are directly responsible for the deaths of 24 patients at the COVID-19 hospital in Chamarajanagar and demanded that Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa and Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar must resign taking moral responsibility for the incident.

Tweeting about the incident he stated that he was pained by the deaths of 24 patients due to the lack of oxygen and expressed his condolences to the bereaving families of the deceased.

“This is the latest in a series of deaths in the State over the past several days due to oxygen shortage. This is a very serious and inhuman situation. No more evidence is required now to prove that State’s governance has completely collapsed. How many more innocent people must fall prey to BJP’s lust for power? It is very important now to get rid of such a government where people’s lives cannot be saved,” he added.

“The incident must be investigated by a panel headed by a retired High Court judge,” Siddaramaiah said.
